Massive Media is looking for an experienced Web Designer – one who excels at multitasking and problem-solving, and who is passionate about the craft. In this position, you’ll be collaborating with an enthusiastic team of dynamic, creative professionals to create new brands and websites. Massive’s energetic environment is fast-paced and never boring. 

As a member of our Creative Team, you will play a key role in reimagining how our client’s exist online and out in the wild. You will spend the bulk of your time on website projects, taking brand identities to the next level by creating stunning digital experiences. You will be part of a growing design team and report into our Art Director.

About the Role

We are primarily a web and brand design studio, so often our projects span multiple disciplines that each require unique skill sets. We don’t expect you to be a unicorn, but this role requires some serious web design chops.

First and foremost, you’ll be a leading designer across web design projects. To do this, you will:

  • Design full websites experiences from concept through launch
  • Expand upon and/or implement brand guidelines into site-wide styles
  • Establish typography hierarchies and apply typography to design using grid structures
  • Establish web design systems and style sheets, reusable components, and modules
  • Collaborate with UX designers and copywriters to enhance page layouts and optimize content flow
  • Design web pages based on provided wireframes 
  • Annotate designs, provide examples and direction on interactions and animations
  • Work closely with developers and QA team to designs are executed according to specs
  • Facilitate client walkthroughs

You’ll also work on brand projects, especially for clients seeking a website redesign. This includes:

  • Helping facilitate and participate in collaborative brainstorming sessions and client design discovery workshops 
  • Collaborating with the Art Director, Brand Strategists and Copywriters to translate brand stories into meaningful creative concepts spanning web, social, and digital applications
  • Creating logo and brand identity concepts
  • Selecting colours, images, text style, and layout based on tone established by Creative/Art Directors and brand guidelines
  • Developing graphics for product illustrations and icons
  • Sourcing/creating images for physical and digital channels that convey messages, concepts and human expression
  • Preparing and help lead client presentations, address and implement client feedback

And, just to keep things interesting, sometimes you’ll also design marketing and brand materials such as:

  • Digital presentations, posters, promotional booklets & pamphlets, digital & physical ads, social media posts, infographics, email templates

With any project, you’ll execute all design work based on creative briefs and instructions from the Art Director and Client leads, ensuring brand consistency is maintained across a project’s digital and physical channels. You’ll present or send final designs to Art Directors or Client Leads for approval/review/feedback, then  Incorporate feedback from clients and key stakeholders on projects to finalize designs.

What you will bring: 

  • Prior experience managing your own design projects is a must
  • Excellent web design and  visual design skills and attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 5 years+ of professional experience in graphic design. Experience with print and web is a must.
  • Extensive experience in design software: Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and XD/Sketch
  • Prior knowledge working with prototyping tools and the ability to learn new tools quickly for UX
  • Exceptional organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Sense of humour, with a dose of radical candor.

Compensation

Salary band $55,000 to $80,000 annually based on experience.
