Massive Changes: Here’s What’s New at Massive

Like many of you, while Massive may have gone home this spring, we didn't leave work—we kept going. Now, we've got big things to share.

Look, there’s no denying it: COVID-19 hit 2020 hard. Despite everything, we’ve watched our partners persevere. You’ve rallied to strengthen your brands and digital presence, preparing for the next hurdle with grit and grace.

Like many of you, while Massive may have gone home this spring, we didn’t leave work—we kept going. Now, we’ve got big things to share:

The New engagemassive.com

By now, you’ve likely noticed we’ve revamped our website—or at least the first iteration of what will be an ongoing evolution of our digital presence. Take a look around and let us know what you think!

Portfolio Reel

How much time does it take to create a portfolio reel, you ask? A shit-ton, it turns out. Here’s a snapshot of just some of the projects we’ve been working on this past year.

Projects include: Eden Empire, Boughton Law, Ketch, Local Public Eatery, The Vancouver Opera, and the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform.

Massive Talks

We’ve been talking about producing a podcast for ages: it turns out it took a global pandemic to get us to pull the trigger. For our inaugural episode, Content Strategist Prem sits down with Massive’s partners Lindsay and René to discuss the latest news from Massive, how we’re handling COVID-19, and what you can expect from us in the coming months.

Labs, Massive and Cadence

There’s a lot here to unpack, but here are the Coles Notes: We’ve spun off two new divisions, Labs and Cadence. While the services these divisions offer aren’t new to Massive, the new distinction will allow us to operate with more internal efficiency and greater clarity.

To get a better sense of how each division operates, check out the graphic below. We’ll dive into the reasoning and logic behind this move in weeks ahead, so stay tuned

Outposts

If COVID has taught us anything, it’s the importance of washing our hands frequently. It’s also that we can operate just as effectively remotely as we can in-person. So, with the goal of expanding eastwards, both in terms of our clientele and team, we’ve opened two new outposts in Calgary and Toronto.

New Team

Last, but definitely NOT least, we’re excited to announce two big personnel changes here at Massive.

In January, James Voth was made Massive’s Director of Product and Development. Check out our official announcement for more info on what this means moving forward.

We’re also thrilled to welcome industry maverick Gaylene MacDonald as our new VP of Strategy.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Gaylene’s a bit of a big deal in the agency world. She joins Massive from Edelman, where she acted as VP of Digital and Integrated Marketing, West Canada. Throughout her career, she’s held leadership positions at other digital-focused agencies, acting as the VP of digital and integrated marketing brand experience and content at Tribal Worldwide’s Vancouver office, Invoke, Karo and Blast Radius, where she worked with clients like Nike, Starbucks, Lululemon, UBC, Microsoft and PwC.

That wasn’t so bad, was it?
